Studio Policy
Parents, guardians, and students can expect that all the Starlight Dance team will respect the wellbeing of each student, treat them fairly, and encourage their growth and confidence as individuals. Should any concern or issue arise, please do not hesitate to speak directly with the Principal.
We are committed as a Dance Academy to provide education, act as role models, and help our students grow and develop with respect for their teachers and students alike, as well as other team members and the studios in which they dance. If for any reason a student does not meet the expectations outlined below, Starlight Dance Academy will arrange to speak to both student and parent/guardian concerned about any issues that may arise.
Studio Environment
Ignite Studios at Rock Health are a premium facility that offers studio space to a variety of users within the community. When using the facilities, students are expected to use lockers for their belongings, dispose of any litter in the bins provided, and leave communal areas and the studios as they would expect to find them.
No items should be left in lockers overnight, as these are opened by Ignite and Rock Health management and items may be removed if left there. Starlight Dance and Ignite Studios accept no responsibility for loss or damage to any personal property left on site.
We ask that students refrain from locking unused lockers within the facility, as this reduces the secure space available for other users of the facility.
No food or drink is permitted within the studios except water, and chewing gum is strictly prohibited.
We kindly ask that older students be mindful that they are setting the example for younger students, and thus act as role models through both their language and behaviour.
To ensure Starlight Dance are able to provide our service to the best of our ability, students are to keep talking to a minimum during class and participate fully in the lesson.
Parking
There is a full car park situated around the back of Rock Health, with over 130 spaces. Alternatively, there is parking down Victoria Avenue, however please be mindful not to park on yellow lines, as you will be liable for a parking ticket. Students are not to be dropped off or picked up at the door, as this is a strict no parking/no waiting zone, clearly marked. Doing so will pose a risk to pedestrians and create congestion for others. The safety of all users is paramount to us.
Class Uniform
Students are to arrive with appropriate dance uniform and their hair pulled back in a neat pony tail/French plait or a bun for ballet. It is essential that students are able to move freely without inhibition and that teachers are able to clearly see the line of the body so that we can properly assess and correct alignment and posture. If a student consistently arrives in incorrect class uniform, they may be asked to sit out of class.
Attendance and Pick Up
Students are to arrive on time for class, with senior students being encouraged to arrive earlier than the start time to begin warming up and stretching.
In the event that a student is late and class has already started, the student is to come into the studio and wait by the door for the teacher to acknowledge them and invite them in to join the class, so as to mitigate disruption to the rest of the class as far as possible. Arriving severely late may result in being asked to sit out of class to reduce the risk of injury after missing warm up exercises.
If you know you will be running late, please inform the office so we can let the teachers know that your child will be late. In cases of repeated lateness, parents will be contacted by the office. In case of an emergency, please call rather than email, so that we can respond in real time.
Children are to be collected immediately after class. We are not responsible for children after the end of their class; parents and guardians are responsible for arranging proper supervision of their children if it is necessary for them to stay in the building for periods of time before, after, or in between classes. Children must stay within Ignite Studios’ premises and under no circumstances leave the premises or enter studios within the building that are not hired by us.
Absences
If your child will be absent from class, please contact the office prior to the class time.
It is important to endeavour to attend classes as scheduled every week to ensure the continuance of development both for you/your child, but also the rest of the class. This is particularly imperative when working towards performances, competitions, and exams. Students who consistently attend classes will improve at a much faster rate than those who don’t.
Rescheduled Lessons
Sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances, lessons have to be rescheduled or cancelled, whether due to staff sickness or studio closure. In these cases, we will provide you with as much notice as possible via email or via SMS if less than 24 hours’ notice. We will then contact you via email with the time and date of the rescheduled class, however if it is not possible for a class to be rescheduled, the fee for the lesson will be credited to your account if the cancellation is our direct responsibility, by way of a credit note.
If classes are cancelled due to events out of our control i.e power cuts, adverse weather, or local pandemics, classes will not be rescheduled or refunded.
Terms’ Notice
Fees are charged a full term in advance and a full term’s notice is required for cancellation of class/classes. Failure to do so means the following terms’ fees will be liable. No refunds or credits will be given for students missing classes due to illness, holidays, or other, as by signing up, they are committing to a space in that class for the whole term, which we have reserved for them.
Payments
Please kindly note that the generous settlement discount scheme that we offer is subject to full payment within 14 days of your invoice. Discount will be removed from all invoices that aren’t settled in full by their due date. We are happy to offer payment plans if you wish to spread your payments across the term, with full payment being received by the end of term, however in doing so we are unable to offer the discount scheme. For any payments outstanding that do not have an agreed payment plan in place, interest of 5% will be added on the last day of each month.
Medical
A medical notes section is included within our online registration form should your child have a medical condition that you feel we should be aware of. If a medical condition arises following your initial sign up, please ensure that you let the office know.
This information will be kept confidential and will only be shared with necessary staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child. In case of an emergency, if required, we will call the relevant first responders.
Photo Permissions
From time to time, we will take photos/have professional photos taken of our students for use on social media and advertising purposes. There is a tick box on the registration form when you sign up as to whether you provide photo permission for you/your child. If you signed up before this option was available, or change your mind at any time, you may opt out at by emailing hello@starlightdance.gg.

In recognition of this acknowledged risk of injury, I knowingly and voluntarily waive all right and/or causes of action of any kind including any and all claims of negligence arising as a result of such activity from which liability could accrue to Starlight Dance Academy, its officers and employees and hereby acknowledge that I knowingly and voluntary assume full responsibility for all risks of physical injury arising out of active participation in dance and drama on behalf of the participant. Starlight Dance Limited and its employees assume no responsibility for children on the premises before, after or between their specified class times, or for personal belongings brought to the premises.

On registering your application, you agree to these terms and conditions.
