Mr Luke

Dance Teacher

Luke started tap dancing at the age of 5. After endlessly watching a video of Riverdance, his parents bought him a term of tap lessons as a gift, and he hasn't stopped tapping since! He picked up modern a few years later, and now he loves teaching both styles.

Luke has many fond memories from his time as a student, including school shows, the Guernsey Festival of Dance, Jersey Eisteddfod, Dance World Cup finals, and incredible performance trips to Sadler's Wells Theatre, Her Majesty's Theatre, and Disneyland Paris.

Some of Luke's highlights include winning the Carousel School of Dancing trophy at the Jersey Eisteddfod, winning the Janine Bougourd trophy at the Guernsey Festival of Dance, getting a gold medal at the Dance World Cup finals in Jersey, receiving the Julie Sinclair Prize from the faculty of the Dance Summer School in Edinburgh, and getting distinctions in his Advanced 2 tap and Intermediate modern exams.

Luke has been teaching at the dance school since 2012. He particularly enjoys choreographing routines for shows and competitions, and helping students develop a love of dancing.

Luke holds an ISTD Level 3 Diploma in Dance Instruction for both tap and modern, a Module One Acrobatic Arts Teacher Certification, a Module Two Alixa Flexibility Certification, and is currently working towards the ISTD Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education.

Outside of dancing, Luke spent 15 years working in fund administration and now works in web development. He also built this website for Starlight!
