Miss Kirsty
Principal
Kirsty grew up dancing from the age of 6, initially to enhance her skills for her greatest passion, Artistic Roller Skating.
Having grown up achieving British National titles and representing Great Britain in numerous European and World Championships, Kirsty's greatest achievement was placing 4th in the first World Games in 2009 (the equivalent of the Olympics for sports not included).
Roller Skating has given Kirsty opportunities she could only dream of; from TV appearances on C Beebies Skate Nation, to Sky One's Got to Dance getting Gold Stars from Ashley Banjo and Aston Merrygold, and then meeting Simon Cowell on Britain's Got Talent!
Continuing her love for dance, Kirsty is also a keen Ballroom and Latin dancer, often competing in local versions of Strictly Come Dancing as a professional, and she loves seeing her partners progress from having two left feet into fantastic performers.
In 2020, Kirsty was given the opportunity to turn her love for all things dance into a career, by taking over the school where she grew up dancing and becoming Karen Thompson's successor.
Since then, it has been a whirlwind of experiences, from Dance Festivals, Dance World Cup Finals, various competitions, local performances, choreographing for local pantomimes, and not forgetting giving Starlight Dance Academy its forever home at Ignite Studios.
Kirsty loves nothing more than supporting our students in all that they do, and thoroughly enjoys adding polish and finesse to routines to help our students shine their brightest... and of course rhinestones!!
