Miss Amy

Dance Teacher

Amy grew up in the UK. She started RAD and ISTD dance classes at the age of 3 but was dancing as soon as she could stand up. She enjoyed choreographing and putting on performances in the living room for family members from an early age. Her first performance award was at the age of 4 when Amy and her best friend Natalie won a competition for their dance to the theme of The Flintstones!

Amy first started learning Ballet and Modern Dance and went on to pick up many other styles, such as Contemporary, Tap, National and Greek. Growing up she helped teach dance classes in secondary school and for local dance schools. She also applied her skills in choreography to support school musicals and community events.

After leaving school, Amy obtained an Honours Degree in Contemporary Dance from the University of Chichester. Whilst there, she gained experience in Dance Performance, Teaching, Lighting/Sound, Dance Journalism and Dance Movement Psychotherapy.

Following her degree Amy trained at the Judith Hockaday College of Dance and Drama where she studied Performance, Singing and Teaching. Her choice to focus on Teaching saw her collecting 4 ISTD Diploma in Dance Education Certificates in Imperial Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, Tap and National Dance.

Over the next 8 years, Amy went on to teach dance in various dance schools and furthered her education by obtaining qualifications in Acrobatic Arts, Contemporary Dance and RAD Ballet.

As well as teaching formal qualifications, Amy has also taught Diddi Dance in the UK - teaching children aged 18 months to 4 years in both Preschool settings and Community classes. During her university years, she was a Dance Activity leader at an International Summer School.

She is proud to have been selected to Dance in the opening of the 2012 Paralympic Games.

Amy joined Starlight in August 2020, moving to Guernsey from Wiltshire, UK. Amy's favourite dance styles are Lyrical and Contemporary, but she enjoys them all!
